What we will do:

We will listen to you fully, without any judgement. We will believe you and trust you. We will advocate for you, directed by you, and we will try in any way we can to ensure that your voice is being heard, and that you are not being ignored by those who are supposed to be supporting your needs. We will try to find out what your legal rights are and will help you to challenge any violation of these. We will recognise that because of power structures that play out in most services there can be a lot of fear of repercussions around making complaints or challenging the way you have been treated; we will therefore check in with you regularly to ensure that you feel in control and comfortable with any action taken, every step of the way. We will work with you to find out how you want to do things and we will honour that. Although we can not promise we can get you the result you want, we promise that we will try our best to do everything we can.

What we will not do:

We will not patronise you or make any assumptions about you or your experiences. We will not tell you what to do or make you feel pressured into doing anything you do not want to do. We will not criticise you or suggest that we know best. We will not act superior to you, talk over you or challenge you. We will not do anything without your full consent.

Who we are:

We are all survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence or gender based violence and abuse. We have personal experience of receiving support from many different support services and feel the way current support systems operate lets survivors down. We also have experience of working directly in services as Case Workers and Support Workers in safe houses and other support services.

Who we are not:

We are not solicitors or legal advisors, our advocacy is based on shared knowledge, experience and research. We are also not experts on on your situation; although we have some experience of navigating support systems, everyone is different and has their own unique experience. You are the only expert on you and your needs.
